Yoga as a path

Hi! I´m Sonja and I am passionate about yoga!

My curiosity for yoga and meditation started to grow in my early 20s. I left Austria at the age of 21 and moved to Amsterdam, finding myself in some busy years of studying and working in another country. I started going to yoga classes several times a week and always felt good afterwards- like something has shifted. "Yoga is to still the fluctuations of the mind"- This is really true for me. It became part of my daily ritual to maintain physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Over the years, I have explored various yoga styles, but it was not until I discovered Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga that I dedicated myself to one practice. In 2016, during my first journey to India, I spent some time in an Ashram where I was introduced to the authentic roots of Hatha Yoga. Returning with inspiration, I completed a one-year long Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training at The Breathing Space in Amsterdam.

Ever since, I have studied and practiced yoga with inspiring and compassionate teachers in The Netherlands and in India. It has brought me a lot of joy to practice and teach Ashtanga in various locations and to explore the philosophy and strong tradition of this method.

In addition to being a yoga teacher, I currently work as a Nutrition & Health professional and a copywriter specializing in supplements and health-related subjects. I Believe that nutrition and lifestyle in combination with a spiritual practice can lead to a happier and healthier life.

My goal is to continue to evolve as both a yoga practitioner and teacher. I really enjoy teaching what I love and it is my wish to form connections with inspiring people, places and communities through this beautiful practice.

Invite a practice into your life.

Every time I enter a shala or step onto my mat, I experience this special feeling - the feeling that this time of practice is precious. It enables me to turn inward, pay attention, and establish a deeper connection with my body and breath. It is a constant blend of ease and effort. Developing a practice is a magical experience that unfolds continuously.
